OPERATION SAFE AT HOME
On September 14, 2021, the Santa Barbara County
Probation Department conducted countywide
wellness checks of individuals on Probation, Pretrial,
or Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS). The
operation focused on clients convicted of domestic or
family violence, child or elder abuse, and sex or drug
crimes where children, victims, or vulnerable adults
reside in the home. Nineteen (19) Deputy Probation
Officers (DPO) participated in the operation visiting
47 locations in Santa Maria, Orcutt, Lompoc, Santa
Barbara, and Goleta, with no arrests made.
The wellness checks included assessing the client and
family's living environment, documenting any needs
of the individuals within the home, providing
information on Probation and community resources,
and ensuring the client's compliance with the terms
and conditions of their probation. During visits,
wellness bags containing facemasks, hand sanitizer,
sanitizing cloths, snacks, and items for children were
distributed.
